INFORMATION ABOUT YOUR PHOTOGRAPH

A new photo is required for all first time applications as well as replacement applications if more than five years have passed since a new photo was provided. Press 'Select Photo' to upload your photo.

  • Look directly into the camera.
  • Photo of head & shoulders with some of the background showing.
  • Plain background which is white or very light in color. (No patterns or objects in the background.)
  • You must have the image saved on a disk or your hard drive as a JPEG type (this is a file that ends in .jpg or .jpeg). This is the common format for most digital cameras. If you are using a traditional film camera, many photo-labs will now convert the image to a digital one on a disk for a very small price.
  • The name of your photo can only contain English letters (A-Z and a-z), arabic numerals (0-9) and the following symbols: minus sign (-), plus sign (+), underscore (_) and period (.). It should start with a letter or a number.
  • If scanning a photo, scan at 300 dpi and save the entire photo, even it shows more than the head and shoulders.
  • Helpful ideas for a good photo:
    • To avoid reflection on eyeglasses, stand several feet (1.5 to 2 meters) from camera.
    • To avoid shadows around face, stand several feet (1.5 to 2 meters) away from the wall behind you.
